New Features in PSRCHIVE 5.0

A number of new features have been added to the PSRCHIVE software since version 4.0; the following list names just a few:

Configuration: A number of default values used in various parts of the code can be set in the file, $PSRCHIVE/psrchive.cfg.

Documentation: The lists of manuals and tutorials has continued to grow.

Searching: The period/DM refinement program, pdmp, has been ported to use the PSRCHIVE library, enabling its use with all supported file formats.

Timing: A new program, paas, produces analytic template profiles by fitting the von Mises distribution to profile components. A number of new arrival time estimation algorithms have been added, include matrix template matching.

Polarimetric Calibration: New parameters that describe the state of the receiver and backend have been added to the PSRFITS definition; these are used by PSRCHIVE to perform polarimetric calibration of data from a variety of instruments with different conventions.

Plotting: A new program, psrplot, produces highly customizable plots in a variety of styles.
